Learning and development
At Salford City Council we are committed to providing our employees with the training they need to excel in their work, whatever their level of experience:
If you have qualified and want to start your career in social work or want to get back into social work:
Salford City Council has developed a comprehensive programme to help you become a social worker once you have qualified or return to the profession.
When you first join us:
An induction programme is in place to equip you with the skills and knowledge to start your professional career.
Consolidation year one:
After you have been with us for six months, you will continue to receive training in a variety of areas to help you prepare your NQSSW portfolio. In the meantime your caseload is protected and you benefit from additional supervision and an innovative mentoring and coaching programme for new managers.
In year two as an employee:
Enjoy further specialist training through the early professional development programme.
A wide variety of options as you progress to level three status:
We have programs in place to help you become an advanced social worker, one of our leaders or complete specialisms such as PQ Award in Childcare.
As an experienced social worker:
Receive training in coaching, mentoring and how to become a practice educator so that you can also play a role in the development of less experienced social workers.
All through your career:
Take advantage of Salford City Council's comprehensive programme of courses to strengthen your IT and transferable skills.
