Course / Qualification Foundation and Intermediate Construction Award in Brickwork
Place of study Salford City College - City Campus

What were you doing before you began studying at the college?

Before college I studied at Buile Hill High School.

Who or what influenced you to do start this course?

I always wanted to get into the building trade. My Grandad worked as a builder too.

How did you find out about this course?

My Connexions officer at school told me about Salford City College and the course.

What made you want to study here?

I live locally to the city campus and Salford City College offered the course that I wanted to do.

How will this course help you achieve what you want?

It will help me gain the skills that I need to become a builder.

What are the best things about this course?

Learning the trade and doing the practical work.

What are the hardest things about this course?

I have not found anything difficult about the course, even working with a group of lads hasn’t been a problem; they’ve welcomed me on to the course.

If you could make you choices again, what would you do differently?

I wouldn’t change any of my choices. I feel I have made all the right decisions.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to do what you’re doing?

Just get on and do it. By taking this course it shows that girls can do a male job.

and finally... where2nxt?

I would like to become an apprentice builder.
