Open Space associated with New Housing Developments
Salford City Council adopted Unitary Development Plan (2006) policy H8 seeks to secure new open space or open space improvements as part of new housing developments to meet the open space standards in R2. The Open Space Associated with New Housing Developments Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) has been replaced by the Planning Obligations Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). This SPD has been prepared to outline the circumstances when open space and other contributions will be required from residential and non-residential developments.
The city council recognises that new housing developments are likely to increase demands on existing local open space provision. Recreational open space provision is an important component of the urban area and contributes significantly to quality of life within the city. The approach advocated in Policy H8 places the responsibility for this provision with the developer.
