Adult sailing courses
The sheltered waters of Salford Quays provide the ideal sailing waters for learning the basics of Dinghy Sailing. Courses that we offer are RYA Levels 1 and 2 and RYA Seamanship Skills. Our dedicated team of instructors will guide you through the various stages of your course. We offer sailing courses in either single handed dinghies or crewed dinghies. Each option will give you a different sailing experience but you will follow the same syllabus in your course.
The table below should help you decide whether to do your course in single handed dingies or crewed dingies:
| Single handed dinghy, eg Laser Pico | Crewed dinghy, eg Laser Stratos |
|---|---|
| Sailing independently | Sailing with other people onboard so more sociable course |
| More time on the helm during the course | Less time helming but experience gained in crewing |
| Instructor coaches the group from a safety boat | Instructor is onboard the boat with students |
| Not so comfy if you have bad knees or are not very flexible | More comfortable than a single handed boat |
| Courses are slightly cheaper | Courses cost a little bit more |
