Information for governors

The national programme, called Building Schools for the Future, will fund works to bring all secondary schools up to new standards and create 21st century learning environments. Salford is in wave 3 of a programme with fifteen phases and we are working towards starting to deliver the building programme in the next few years.

You have an important role to play to develop our vision for secondary schools.

There are a number of stages before we actually start works on the schools, so there are a number of opportunities for you to be involved in developing our plans. In the next 12 months, schools and pupils will be involved in designing the future buildings.

The Building Schools for the Future programme has provided an opportunity for Salford to agree a vision that will place schools at the heart of our communities.

There is also guidance available nationally, including Building Schools for the Future - a guide for school governors and headteachers.

A new statutory school consultation took place 10 November - 17 December on the proposed closure of St George's RC High School, the enlargement and relocation of St Ambrose Barlow High School at the Wardley site, rebuild of All Hallows RC High School at the ex Hope High School site and rebuild of St Patrick's High School at its existing site.
