Poppy: Hi, I'm Poppy
Lee: And I'm Lee
Poppy: And we're out on the streets of Pendleton trying to find out what young people love about the area
Lee: So come on, let's find out!
Lee: So what do you like about the local area then?
Person 1: It's quite close to town and it's quite close to Salford Quays, it's quite nice. There's a couple of good museums and art galleries down there and that sort of thing; quite good transport.
Person 2: Yeah, it's alright, I've been here a long time and, I'm not originally from round here as you can tell, but been here about thirteen years now and it's changing for the better all the time.
Poppy: Tell us about the young talent in the area?
Person 3: Well there is a lot of talent in the area, a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of young people that want to get involved and also be given the opportunity to show what they've got. So there is a lot of talent in the area.
Poppy: So what would you like to gain from the new Pendleton?
Person 4: I'd like to let my daughter go out and play on the street with her friends and for me to feel safe when she's outside in our own garden and our streets.
Person 1: I think probably more green spaces, better parks and things like that, more trees on the streets in general and things just looking a bit greener.
Person 5: I would like to see the streets more safe.
Person 6: Yeah I'd like to see the regeneration of all the houses here, I have family round that live round here and so it'd be nice to see the regeneration happen and also I'd love to live in this area when I'm older so if it was bit more smarter and trendier I'd be happy to live here.
Person 7: In the future I would like to go to cafes and pubs, bars, posh bars!
Person 6: I like a lot of what is going on at the moment, I mean there is some development happening already in and around this centre so when the regeneration happens or if it does happen it will be great to see.
Person 1: I think a mixture of family homes, more good quality student accommodation and just more choice really, affordable choice!
Person 8: I mean I have noticed, like a lot of people just sort of hang about and I've not heard about or seen any things where people can go. There's not really a lot to do in terms of just generally there's just not a lot to do other than hang about the shops.
Person 9: It will all be worthwhile in the end, yeah hopefully it will work out and maybe take the kids of the street and maybe to get them to do something practical.

Lee: So what's the local area like then?
Person 10: Well it's a great area for music, I mean everyone around here is enthusiastic and into the music, I think it's what makes the place kind of tick really.
Poppy: So what would you like the area to be like in the future?
Person 11: The area needs to be more communal and society needs to sort of fuse a little bit more.
Person 12: It needs to be more active especially down by the precinct area, that kind of thing, cos it's such a large space that can be used and it just seems deserted once the sun goes down.
Person 10: I think they need to look towards making buildings that are more sustainable and that ten years after they are built they still look nice and the areas still going to be safe to be around. They need to give people a sense of pride in their area.

Jonathan: Sorry guys I really have to get somewhere.
Lee: What do you love about Pendleton then?
Jonathan: It's great for transport as we haven't got a car; but I can't stop I've gotta go!
Poppy: Jonathan wait!
