Supporting young people

The changes taking place in education and training mean that supporting young people with their choices is more important than ever before.

Most young people will need to access some form of guidance or support to help them make their decisions and the effectiveness of this service can help support their future participation and progression.

An entitlement to the right support

Through the learner entitlement, young people should be able to:

  • access high quality, impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG) to help them stay on in learning and achieve
  • know which courses are on offer within their local area through the 14-19 Prospectus
  • be guaranteed an offer of a suitable place in learning through the September Guarantee
  • raise their aspirations and challenge stereotypes
  • be supported in learning
  • enjoy positive activities
  • have additional support when and where they need it
