Support and care for disabled children and their families
Local services
- Early Support Team - Early Support is for families with disabled children under five and anyone who regularly works with them.
- Portage Service - home visiting educational service for children aged between birth and five years with additional support needs.
- Salford Families - social care service for disabled children from birth to 18 years, run in association with Barnardo's.
- Parent Partnership Service - available to all parents of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Salford.
- Community Occupational Therapy Service - provides advice and equipment to help improve quality of life.
National services
- Contact a Family - UK charity providing advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children. Call the helpline 0808 808 3555, Monday to Friday 10.00am - 4.00pm, Monday evening 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Email helpline@cafamily.org.uk or textphone 0808 808 3556. - KIDS - the disabled children's charity. KIDS vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations and their right to an inclusive community which supports them and their families.
- Parentline Plus - 0808 800 2222 - A free and confidential helpline for parents and carers. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Text phone 0800 783 6783.
- Family Information Direct - a range of national services to ensure you have access to the information, advice and guidance you need to support you in your parenting.
