Payments information

Salford Supporting People team currently make payments for over 50 providers in respect of Supporting People services which provide housing-related support to over 5,000 people.

Payments are made under two different types of contract:

Block gross contract

  • Providers are paid the annual contract value in thirteen, four-weekly instalments. Payments are made in advance at the start of each payment period. Payments are made direct by BACS to the provider’s bank account.
  • Payments do not normally vary; however payments will be adjusted if there is a change to the contract, for example, a reduction in units or a change in the annual contract value.
  • Instalments for December and January are normally paid together as an eight-week payment, as are February and March.

Block subsidy contract

  • Providers are paid a subsidy for every qualifying service user. Service users may qualify for subsidy if they receive housing benefit or if they have had a fairer charging assessment.
  • Payments are made in advance, every four weeks, at the start of each payment period. Payments are made direct by BACS to the provider’s bank account.
  • A schedule is sent at the same time as each payment, showing a breakdown of each service user’s subsidy payment, so that subsidy can be allocated to individual service users.
  • Providers must tell us about tenancy changes to ensure that payments are accurate.
  • An adjustment schedule is sent with the payment schedule showing retrospective changes where payments have been ended, added or amended.
  • Providers must check and reconcile payments every month and tell us about errors or changes immediately.
  • See documents below for further details.
