Sustainability

Reed bed filtration

As issues of sustainability become more central to the design and management of buildings and open spaces, The Landscape Design Group has been instrumental in producing guidelines incorporating good practice in this field, actively pursuing the use of sustainable options wherever possible.

  • Ensuring access for disabled is an essential component of all designs outside buildings
  • Improving biodiversity and quality of green space and protecting existing ecosystems and vegetation
  • The design of a new school and its surroundings employ on-site drainage and rainwater recycling
  • Recycled material is always specified for use as sub-base for paths and driveways
  • Development of a green specification to the government smartstart LG for contractual monitoring of recycling and waste
  • Local suppliers, contractors and manufacturers are used wherever possible
  • Ensuring use of timber from certified forests (approved under the Forest Stewardship Council)
  • Employment of local labour
