Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Document

Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Document

The Sustainable Design and Construction Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides guidance for developers on the integration of sustainable design and construction measures in new developments. These measures include for example, techniques to improve energy efficiency, promote rainwater recycling and incorporate recycling facilities. In this way, the SPD promotes the design and construction of buildings that minimse their environmental footprint, are economical to run over their entire life cycle and fit well with the needs of the local community.

The Sustainable Design and Construction SPD was adopted by the council on 19 March 2008.
