Swinton

Swinton is situated approximately four miles north west of Manchester City Centre on the A6. The main shopping offer is housed within Swinton Precinct where you can find a number of local stores as well as high street favourites. It also has a good mix of cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Within Swinton you can also find a number of large superstores, such as Morrisons, B and Q and Matalan, just north of the town centre.

Swinton town centre also offers access to a number of community and leisure facilities. The administrative heart of the city of Salford can be found in Swinton and the Lancastrian Hall is home to Swinton Library. The library offers a great mix of adult and children's books, as well as IT facilities, an art gallery and storytime events. Fit City Pendlebury is located just off Station Road. There is something for any active citizen here, with its pool, fitness suite and excellent variety of classes.

Creating a town centre to be proud of

As part of developing a regeneration plan for the West of Salford (Salford West Strategic Regeneration Framework), we talked to local residents and businesses about their ideas for improving the area. People want successful, busy town centres. Through working with landowners and developers in the area and investing in environmental improvements we want to:

  • increase the number of people visiting the town centre
  • support new jobs and businesses
  • support businesses already in the area and safeguard jobs
  • ensure visitors leave with positive stories of the town centre
  • build on the pride that local people have in the town centre.
