The total number of days in the Salford scheme totals 190. This number of days is a statutory requirement.
All closures to be on the evening of the dates shown, openings to be on the mornings of the dates shown.
For voluntary aided and foundation schools it is the school governing body which sets the school's term dates.

Option A (this option is normally followed by secondary schools)
Autumn term 2012
- Open: Thursday 6 September
- Half term: Monday 29 October to Friday 2 November
- Close: Friday 21 December
Spring term 2013
- Open: Monday 7 January
- Half term: Monday 11 February to Friday 15 February
- Close: Friday 22 March
Summer term 2013
- Open: Monday 8 April
- Bank holidays: Monday 6 May and Monday 27 May
- Half term: Tuesday 28 May to Friday 31 May
- Close: Thursday 18 July
Option B (this option is normally followed by primary schools)
