Vision and framework

Vision

By 2028 Salford West will be one of the most desirable and prosperous areas in Greater Manchester. With a diverse and prosperous economy, Salford West will attract, retain and provide a skilled workforce. This will be a magnet for new investment.

Residents will have the qualifications, skills and support needed to fulfil their ambitions and play a major part in sustaining this prosperous and growing economy. The residents of Salford West will live in thriving neighbourhoods. They will have high quality town and neighbourhood centres, a wide choice of housing, excellent schools and community facilities.

A committed investment in health, safety, leisure, transport and learning will improve quality of life, creating sustainable and inclusive communities. Residents and visitors will enjoy unrivalled recreational and sporting activities. A network of beautiful green spaces will link the area's rich industrial heritage and exciting new leisure developments.

Framework

The framework is underpinned by 32 areas of action across three drivers:

  1. successful local economy and business location of choice
  2. a network of quality neighbourhoods
  3. outstanding leisure and environmental asset

Investment is needed across all three drivers to achieve the Salford West vision.

You can view all 32 areas of action by viewing our drivers and enablers. Some actions already have funding attached, for example over £100 million will be invested in secondary schools through Building Schools for the Future. Many of the actions will be driven by private sector investment. More will be the subject of funding bids over the next 20 years.

The Salford West Partnership Board

Delivery of the framework and action plan will be guided by the Salford West Partnership Board. Elected members, local private sector representatives and partner organisations sit on the board. The board meets four times a year to steer and oversee progress.

Local communities continue to be involved through community committee meetings and project groups. This will make sure that Salford West action plans and community action plans develop together.
