Housing Strategy

The housing strategy is an overarching document that draws upon a variety of supporting strategies. Its purpose is to present a comprehensive picture of local housing needs, issues and priorities for action over the next 3 years.

The city's housing market offers real opportunities for future investment, but is also significantly unbalanced and will require substantial restructuring over the next 20 years. Our ambition is to provide residential environments for local communities which match the aspirations of households in the 21st century.

Restructuring of local housing markets to achieve this will in turn make a major contribution to stabilising the city's population in future years.
