Amendment of prohibition of waiting and introduction of limited waiting: Cobden Street/Mill Street, Salford Order 2009

Notice is hereby given that the council of the city of Salford propose to make an order under Sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

When the order comes into effect the city of Salford (Cobden Street) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1974 will be amended as per schedule A below and you will not be allowed to cause or permit any vehicle to wait on the length of road specified in schedule A below.

When the order comes into effect limited waiting - 1 hour, no return within 2 hours will be introduced as per schedule B below.

The order will contain exceptions to permit waiting for certain purposes and limited waiting by disabled persons' vehicles.

A copy of the proposed order together with a plan of the area and a statement of the council's reasons for proposing to make the order may be examined at the Legal Section, Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, M27 5DA, between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday inclusive.

If you wish to object to the proposed order you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to the City Solicitor, Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5DA by 13 July 2009 (quoting reference H/RB/SM/RTO/UV/269).

Schedule A

Amendment of City of Salford (Cobden Street) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1974

In so far as it relates to:

Both sides of Cobden Street, Salford 6 for its entire length to read:

  • Cobden Street, north side, from a point 140 metres north west of the junction with Broughton Road to its junction with Laundry Street.
  • Cobden Street, south side, from a point 130 metres north west of its junction with Broughton Road to its junction with Laundry Street.

Introduction of no waiting at any time:

  • Cobden Street, north side, from its junction with Broughton Road in a north westerly direction, for a distance of 140 metres.
  • Cobden Street, south side, from its junction with Broughton Road in a north westerly direction, for a distance of 51 metres.
  • Cobden Street, south side, from a point 70 metres north west of its junction with Broughton Road in a north westerly direction for a distance of 60 metres.
  • Mill Street, south west side, from the kerbline of Brettargh Street for a distance of 7 metres.

Schedule B

Introduction of limited waiting - 1 hour, no return within 2 hours:

  • Cobden Street, south side, from a point 51 metres north west of its junction with Broughton Road in a north westerly direction for a distance of 19 metres.
