Establishment of hackney carriage stand, prohibition of stopping on hackney carriage stand except for hackney carriages, amendment and revocation of hackney carriage stand and introduction of new 24 hour drop off bay for car vehicle passengers, order

Notice is hereby given that the council of the city of Salford propose to make an order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32 and 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and in accordance with Section 63 of the Local Government  (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, and by virtue of the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (City of Salford) Order 2001 (Statutory Instrument 2001, No. 894).

When the order comes into effect part 3, schedule 2 of The City of Salford (Revocation and  Establishment of Hackney Carriage Stands and the Prohibition of Stopping on Hackney Carriage Stands) Order 2003 will be amended and the lengths of road specified in schedule 'A' below will be designated as hackney carriage stands.

When the order comes into effect part 4, schedule 3 of The City of Salford (Revocation and  Establishment of Hackney Carriage Stands and the Prohibition of Stopping on  Hackney Carriage Stands) Order 2003 will be amended and you will not be allowed to cause or permit any vehicle, except a hackney carriage vehicle to stop on the lengths of road specified in schedule 'B' below.

When the order comes into effect The City of Salford (New Bailey Street, Salford)(Establishment of Hackney Carriage Stand and Prohibition of Stopping on Hackney Carriage Stand)(Except for Hackney Carriage) Order 2001 will be revoked.

When the order comes into effect schedules 1 and 2 of The City of Salford (Parking Places and Controlled  Parking Zone) Order 2002 will be amended as per schedule 'C' below.

When the order comes into effect a 24 hour drop off bay will be introduced for car vehicle passengers on the lengths of road specified in schedule 'D' below.

A copy of the proposed order together with a plan of the area and a statement of the council’s reasons for proposing to make the order may be examined at the Legal Section, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, M27 5DA, between 8.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

If you wish to object to the proposed order you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to the City Solicitor, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, M27 5DA by the 6 November 2008 (quoting reference H/PP/RTO/UV/68).

Part 3 - Establishment of hackney carriage stands to be added to schedule 2

  • Chapel Street, north side from a point 5 metres west of the western kerbline of Caxton Street for a distance of 20 metres in a westerly direction – 4 spaces.
  • Cook Street, east side from a point 3 metres north of the northern kerbline of Chapel Street for a distance of 10 metres in a northerly direction – 2 spaces.
  • Gore Street, south east side from a point 15 metres southwest of the south western kerbline of New Bailey Street for a distance of 17 metres in a south westerly direction – 3 spaces.
  • Gore Street, south east side from a point 44 metres southwest of the south western kerbline of New Bailey Street for a distance of 17 metres in a south westerly direction  - 3 spaces.
  • New Bailey Street, south west side, in the lay-by from a point 47.5 metres south east of the south eastern kerbline of Gore Street for a distance of 17 metres in a southeasterly direction – 3 spaces.
  • Exchange Quay, east side of roundabout from a point 1 metre south of the northern kerbline of Exchange Quay for a distance of 15 metres in a southerly direction – 3 spaces.
  • Seaford Road, east side from a point 60.5 metres south of the southern kerbline of Gerald Road for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction -  4 spaces.
  • The Quays, north side within the lay-by from a point 21 metres east of the eastern kerbline of the Quays as it crosses the bund at Huron Basin for a distance of 35.5 metres in an easterly direction – 4 spaces.

Part 4 - Prohibition of stopping to be added to schedule 3

  • Chapel Street, north side from a point 5 metres west of the western kerbline of Caxton Street for a distance of 20 metres in a westerly direction.
  • Cook Street, east side from a point 3 metres north of the northern kerbline of Chapel Street for a distance of 10 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Gore Street, south east side from a point 15 metres southwest of the south western kerbline of New Bailey Street for a distance of 17 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • Gore Street, south east side from a point 44 metres southwest of the south western kerbline of New Bailey Street for a distance of 17 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • New Bailey Street, south west side, in the lay-by from a point 47.5 metres south east of the south eastern kerbline of Gore Street for a distance of 17 metres in a south easterly direction.

Delete:

S9 all that part of the south side of Gore Street, Salford, which is bounded on the south by so much of the edge of the carriageway of that highway as extends from a point 21 metres west of the western kerbline of New Bridge Street westwards for a distance of 40 metres and which has a width throughout of 1.8 metres - 7 bays.

Schedule 2 - Part 1

Restricted roads 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 12.30 Saturday

Delete:

Gore Street and New Bailey Street, south west side and replace with

  • Gore Street , north west side, from its junctions with New Bailey Street and Trinity Way. Gore Street, south west side, from a point 61 metres southwest of the south western kerbline of New Bailey Street to Trinity Way.
  • New Bailey Street, south west side, from a point 47 metres south west of the southern kerbline of Chapel Street to the Salford city /Manchester city boundary.

Schedule 2 - Part 2

Roads or parts of roads in the city of Salford in which waiting is restricted 24 hours a day.

Add

  • Gore Street, south east side, from its junction with New Bailey Street for a distance of 58 metres.

Schedule D

Introduction of a new 24 hour drop off bay for car vehicle passengers.

  • New Bailey Street, southwest side, within lay-by, from a point 37 metres south east of the southern kerbline of Chapel Street for a distance of 10 metres.
