Introduction of cycle lanes: Great George Street, Salford Order 2005

Notice is hereby given that the council of the city of Salford propose to make an order under Sections 1, 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

When the order comes into effect a mandatory flow cycle lane and mandatory contra flow cycle lane will be introduced as detailed in the schedule below.

The order will contain exceptions to permit waiting for certain purposes and limited waiting by disabled persons' vehicles.

A copy of the proposed order together with a plan of the area and a statement of the council's reasons for proposing to make the order may be examined at the Legal Section, Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford, M27 5DA, between 8.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays inclusive.

If you wish to object to the proposed order you should send the grounds of your objection in writing to the City Solicitor, Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford M27 5DA by the 28 July  2005 (quoting reference H/PP/C/PD/RTO/01759B)

Schedule

  • Mandatory with flow cyle lane

Any area of the carriageway of that length of road Great George Street which extends from the southern kerbline of Bank Street to Chapel Street in the city of Salford which is bounded on the east by the eastern kerbline of that road and on the west side by a road marking complying with diagram 1049 in Schedule 6 to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, 2002.

  • Mandatory contra-flow cycle lane

Any area of the carriageway of that length of Great George Street which extends from the northern kerbline of Chapel Street to the southern kerbline of Bank Street in the city of Salford which is bounded on the west side by the western kerbline of that road and on the east by a road marking complying with diagram 1049 in Schedule 6 to the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, 2002, broken only by an opening for foot passengers on the road in accordance with Regulations made under section 23 of the said Act of 1984 or by a street refuge.
