Victoria Park
Victoria Park, the district park for Swinton, has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment programme and the park now boasts a wide range of facilities for all ages and abilities.
History of the park
Victoria Park once consisted of a large house, known as Swinton Old Hall, and its surrounding estate. It was acquired by the Borough of Swinton and Pendlebury and opened as a public park in 1897. Around the same time the bandstand was built to commemorate the sixtieth year of the reign of Queen Victoria. At one time the park boasted fourteen glasshouses on the site of the bowling green and croquet lawn.
The house was demolished in 1993 and later replaced by the current Fountains private care home, but the public park continues to flourish.
Victoria Park today
An exciting new phase for the park is well underway with the restoration of the bandstand and the completion of a new play area and multi-sports pitch.
Following this refurbishment, Victoria Park has secured three Green Flags, an annually-awarded national standard for parks and green spaces.

Getting there
Victoria Park is situated on Manchester Road, Swinton, free parking is available off Swinton Hall Road.
Bus numbers 12, 26, 35, 36, 37 and 39 stop outside the park entrance on Manchester Road. For further information contact GMPTE on 0870 608 2 608
