Become a volunteer

Volunteer Centre Salford

Volunteers play a key role in providing social care in Salford.

Many organisations use volunteers to help to provide services to vulnerable people. Some organisations run their own volunteer recruitment scheme, but you can also contact Volunteer Centre Salford.

Volunteer Centre Salford can help you to decide what sort of voluntary work you might be interested in.

Who can volunteer?

Most people can become volunteers. There are often opportunities in voluntary work for people who find it difficult to get paid work - older people; people with disabilities; people with mental health problems; people with criminal records.

What type of voluntary work is there?

There is a wide range of opportunities in Salford, from mentoring young people through prison visiting to environmental work. There are some restrictions about who can volunteer for some projects - for example when working with particularly vulnerable people.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering has benefits to you and to the community. You will gain experience which can make it easier to get paid work, if that is what you want. Many people find that they enjoy 'giving something back' to their community and that they make good friends. Volunteering can also be an opportunity to try something completely different from what you usually do.
