Warm Home Discount scheme
The Warm Home Discount scheme provides a £120 rebate on electricity bills in winter 2011/12. The scheme is open to groups of customers; the ‘Core Group' and the ‘Broader Group'.
Core Group - This group consists of people on the Guarantee element of Pension Credit. Residents in the Core Group don't need to do anything, the Department of Work and Pensions have shared data with the energy companies.
Qualifying households will get their rebate paid to them via their electricity account. This payment will be received by the end of March 2012.
Broader Group - The criteria for this group are determined by each of the energy suppliers individually and are linked to income and benefits. Vulnerable households wishing to apply must contact their electricity company directly. Download the short guide at the bottom of this page for details of your energy company's scheme.
Please note: These rebates are limited and are on a first come first served basis. So contact your electricity company as soon as possiblel, their contact details are on your bill.
