Data protection considerations
Legal requirement: All instances where personal information is gathered electronically must be accompanied by a statement (or prominent link to a statement) that explains how the gathered data will be utilised.
Where an online form is provided that requires a user to enter personal details such as their email address, a home address or a contact telephone number, a link to the website privacy statement (see link at foot of this page) must be added close to where the SUBMIT button is located.
This still applies even if the submit button is close to the foot of the page where a permanent link to the privacy statement appears.
Note: there is no need to provide this information when just an email address is included on a web page.
