Wicked items
Salford CDRP, in response to a countrywide problem with vehicle crime, implemented an innovative public awareness campaign codenamed 'Wicked'. The campaign which included the following items was successful in reducing vehicle crime ( 24.8% reduction (305 offences)) in recorded vehicle crime over the first quarter of 2008 (1st April to 30th June), compared to 2007.
The first mechanical item, the Autolok 2000 steering wheel shield, which is available at the special discounted price of £26.50 (RRP £69.99). These are cosmetic seconds, which means they may have a slight blemish on the nylon coating (colours may vary). Because of the hugely discounted prices, Autolok 2000 units may only be sold to persons who:
- Have been a previous victim of vehicle theft OR
- Own a car five years old or older OR
- Are on low income or in receipt of full benefits.
The second mechanical item, the Disklok, is available in SMALL sizes of first grade quality (suitable for use on RHD vehicles only - colours may vary) to ANYONE at the special discounted price of £47 (RRP £79.99).
Purchases can be made by CHEQUE, made payable to Salford City Council and posted to Salford City Council, Community Safety Unit, Elmstead House, 143 Partington Lane, Swinton, M27 0SS. Please include your name, address & contact telephone number and the type of immobiliser required (Autolok purchases require you to provide details of how you satisfy the criteria above). We will contact you upon receipt to confirm your order and arrange for you to either collect the item from us OR alternatively we may be able to arrange for a local representative to deliver and demonstrate the item to you. Please allow 28 days for delivery.
Car Security Kit containing vehicle stereo grub screws, precision screwdriver, UV marker pen and crime reduction advice. These have been distributed to motor vehicle service repair centres across Salford.
New Car Driver Information Handbooks which contain a car security kit, a tamper proof tax disk holder, and a car air freshener. Our car air fresheners feature the design of the Salford Concept car. and the winning design was submitted by pupils of Clifton School,. Handbooks have been distributed to driving instructors and second hand car dealers across Salford.
Counter Top Display Boxes containing permenant ultra violet property marking pens and Glass cleaning wipes.The wipes are to be used to remove sat nav sucker marks from windscreens; 'dont leave tracks that thieves can follow'. Display boxes have been distributed to Libraries, Leisure centres, Doctors Surgeries and electrical retailers across Salford.
Car crime prevention flyers for inclusion with event tickets distributed by Manchester MEN Arena and Salford reds.
