Detached Teams

Detached youth work takes place in the community, in areas where young people choose to meet. This might be on the streets, in parks and other open spaces, shopping areas or local estates.

Youth workers engage and build relationships with young people to offer positive youth work opportunities. Programmes of work are negotiated and can include activities, residentials, issue based work, information and advice, or signposting to other agencies and youth facilities, if required.

Whilst buildings or other venues may be used, detached work is usually street based and aims to engage young people who do not use other forms of youth provision.
