Improving your neighbourhood in Salford

Salford Street Champions are volunteers who act as the 'eyes and ears' of a community.

They do this by reporting any environmental issues that are affecting neighbourhoods to the council and other agencies. This can include:

• Litter and fly-tipping
• Dog fouling
• Graffiti
• Missed bin collections
• Pot holes
• Broken street lighting
• Anti-social behaviour
• Noise nusiances

By becoming a Street Champion you can:

• Help to improve the quality of the local environment
• Help to make lasting improvements to your local area
• Help make Salford a cleaner, greener and safer place to live and work
• Help to make your communities voice heard

To help you in your work as a Street Champion, volunteers will receive:

• Regular updates on the progress on your reports
• Ongoing help and advice
• Invitation to meetings to discuss local issues and meet other Street Champions
• Free welcome pack and clean-up kit including litter picker, bags and gloves (while stocks last)

How do I get involved?

Anyone who lives or works in Salford can become a Street Champion. 

Once registered, volunteers will be contacted to arrange delivery of your free welcome pack and clean up kit.

Can anyone be a Street Champion?

Anyone who lives or works in Salford, aged 16 and over is eligible to become a Salford Street Champion.

Do Street Champions get preferential treatment?

No. All residents can report issues to the council in the same way. However, Street Champions can also receive additional benefits below.

What are the benefits of being a Street Champion?

The main benefits of becoming a Street Champion include:

How can I stop being a Street Champion?

If you no longer wish to be a Street Champion, please call 0161 925 1094 and we will remove you from our database.

How often do I have to report issues?

Street Champions can report as many issues as often as you like.

How do I find out what has happened to my report?

Street Champions will receive feedback informing them of the progress of their reports.
