Buile Hill Park

Buile Hill is the largest and most popular park in the city.

The park has a long and varied history, with links to many important historical figures.

L.S. Lowry, a one time local rent collector regularly visited the park before gaining recognition for his works of art and Frances Hodgson Burnett, the author of the classic children's novel "The Secret Garden" was rumoured to have written the book during one of her many visits to the grade II listed Buile Hill Mansion.

Buile Hill Park is included on English Heritage's Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England. It is one of two Registered Parks and Gardens in the city, both of which are grade II.

The park's attractions include; tennis courts, a multi use games area, outdoor gym equipment, picnic areas and a children's play area.

Buile Hill Park Hall conference and banqueting facility is available for general hire for any occasion.

On Monday 20 November 2023 renovations will commence at Buile Hill Mansion adjacent to Buile Hill Park Hall.

Buile Hill Park remains open as usual and accessible by foot from all entrance points. Limited visitor parking is available in the car park close to the entrance from Eccles Old Road. Two blue badge parking bays will be available outside Buile Hill Park Hall for guests of the hall and two additional blue badge parking bays will be available next to the tennis courts, they can all be accessed via the Weaste Lane entrance.

Vehicle access for Buile Hill Park Hall from Eccles Old Road will be closed to the public. Delivery vehicles and construction traffic will be supported to enter via Eccles Old Road.

The new temporary vehicle entrance for guests of Buile Hill Park Hall will be on Weaste Lane shown on Google Maps. Postcode to use for Sat Nav: M5 5JQ
