We recommend you allow three working days but check with your bank exactly how long it will take for the payment to reach us. The details you will need to set up a standing order or to make payment from your bank account are as follows:
Please be aware that the council's sort code has changed to 20-54-66. If residents make a faster payment or companies make a BACS payment to the old sort code, they will be informed that the council has changed its sort code. All payments will be redirected by Barclays to the new sort code.
If you pay by direct debit or standing order, you don't need to do anything as Barclays will make this change for you.
You can use your own internet banking facilities to pay us. Please make sure that you quote the correct reference/account number.
You can make a payment at any PayPoint outlet by presenting your council tax bill with your payment to the retailer. This service is free.
Payments may be made by debit card, cash or cheque (payable to Post Office limited) at any Post Office. This service is free.
Please present your council tax bill to the cashier along with your payment - the bill contains a barcode that is used to record your payment.
When making payment at a Post Office or by PayPoint, please make your payment at least five days before the payment is due, so it will be credited to your account in time.
Do not send cash payments through the post, if you wish to make a cash payment use a Post Office or PayPoint outlet.
Cheques should be made payable to 'Salford City Council'. Please ensure that your council tax account reference number is quoted on the back of your cheque. Your cheque should be posted to the Chief Finance Officer, Salford City Council, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford M27 5AW
Payments can be made from an overseas bank account direct to Salford City Council's bank account. The information you need to do this is shown below:
