It is advised that every individual within the Salford children's workforce attends Early Help Assessment and Team Around the Family (TAF) training as part of their induction or prior to completing their first Early Help Assessment.
We hold regular Early Help Assessment and Team Around the Family (TAF) courses open to all practitioners who work with children, young people and families within Salford. The course, which is four hours long, is free of charge and places can be booked via the ‘Book a Early Help Assessment and TAF course’ link. E-mail HRandODsupport@salford.gov.uk with any other enquiries.
Practitioners based with Salford City Council should also complete the following ‘Me Learning Training’ online course which focuses on information sharing and consent 'Information Sharing and Consent - for People Working with Children'. Practitioners can register and access the training.
Early Help Assessment update sessions focusing on specific areas of the Early Help Assessment or TAF process are offered on a regular basis. Practitioners are advised to attend a Early Help Assessment update session at least once every three years as part of their continuous professional development. Please contact the Early Help Assessment team to find out when the next set of update sessions are being held:
Bespoke Early Help Assessment and TAF courses can also be provided to individual agencies. These courses are free of charge and can be provided in half-day or two to three hour ‘workshop’ formats. Please contact the Early Help Assessment team to arrange a course for your organisation or setting.
Salford Safeguarding Children's Partnership also provides a wide range of courses and seminars.
Salford CVS (Council for Voluntary Services) can also provide training. Check their training programme for more details.
Training Pool members are practitioners (paid professionals or volunteers) working within Salford who are released by their agency to deliver the Early Help Assessment/TAF training course alongside an Early Help Assessment coordinator. Members usually deliver one or two days of training per year.
If you are a practitioner working with child/young people or families with experience of multi-agency working and would like to further develop your training skills, please contact Gary Woodward for more information about joining the Training Pool.
