Leisure and Culture Survey

Leisure and culture survey - have your say

Back in Autumn 2021, Salford City Council launched an online survey asking local people to provide their views on leisure and culture services across the city. The survey was open to both service users and non-users and asked people about their experiences of leisure centres, sports facilities, community centres, libraries and cultural sites, such as Ordsall Hall and Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

Salford City Council would like to thank everyone who completed the survey which provided invaluable feedback about motivations and barriers to service use.

The views of local people are extremely important and making sure that these views are listened to and acted upon is vital. Survey feedback has now been analysed and will help us and our operator (Salford Community Leisure), to shape the way services are delivered in the future. The following has been agreed:

  • An action plan has been produced, which covers a number of key areas and includes work to be completed over the short, medium and long term. Salford City Council will be working closely with Salford Community Leisure to facilitate the improvements identified.
  • Survey analysis has identified that a lack of awareness of all services is a key barrier to service use. Salford City Council and Salford Community Leisure aims to continue to utilise a wide range of digital and non-digital communication channels (such as social media, LIFE IN Salford publication, Salford City Council’s website and posters displayed in key community locations) to promote clear links to service information.
  • Survey respondents provided comments about how current services are vital for the health and wellbeing of Salford residents, in addition to being important assets for education and training and acting as key community hubs.

Sport and Leisure, Libraries, Community Centres and Museum services in Salford are all managed by Salford Community Leisure (SCL), on behalf of Salford City Council. You can learn more about the services on offer on the Salford Community Leisure website.
