55 and 23 Pendlebury and Swinton temporary footpath closure

Salford City Council intends to make in no less than seven days the Salford City Council (Definitive Map Footpaths 55 and 23, Pendlebury and Swinton)(Temporary Closure) Order 2021 under section 14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order will temporarily prohibit pedestrians from using:

1. Definitive footpath Swinton and Pendlebury (S and P 55) from the south west corner of Lamplight Way in a south westerly then south easterly and then south westerly direction to a point where it meets Bank Lane. Pedestrian diversions for the south west bound approach to (S and P 55) and (S and P 23) from Lamplight Way will be signed via Tallyman Way, Agecroft Road, Langley Road and vice versa. 

2. Definitive Swinton and Pendlebury (S and P 23) from its north west junction with Swinton and Pendlebury (S and P 55) in a south easterly direction to a point where it joins the footpath at Cobden Street. Pedestrian diversions for the north bound approach to (S and P 55) from Bank Lane will be signed via Bank Lane, Duchy Road, Laundry Street, Cobden Street and vice versa for the closure off (S and P 55).

The order is required to enable the installation of a high voltage cable via Salford’s definitive footpath network due to no capacity within the carriageways or bridges along Agecroft Road and is essential to provide additional electrical power to various new developments throughout the local area. If all necessary works of repair and reconstruction are completed within a shorter period, this order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

The order is due to come into operation on the 17 May 2021 and will last for a period of six weeks. A plan showing the area affected by the Order may be examined at Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 5DA, 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday (due to the COVID-19 restrictions, please ensure that the Civic Centre is open before attending). Alternatively, copies of the documentation may be viewed at Unity House, Swinton, M27 5FJ. The plan will be displayed
