The A6 Manchester Road will re-open west bound (Walkden bound) from approximately 4pm on 10 July however United Utilities will continue to monitor this side of the carriageway for any signs of sinking following the recent water burst. Should there be any signs that the carriageway cannot support traffic flow, the road will have to be closed.
The A6 Manchester Road east bound (Swinton bound) is in poor condition and the water burst still requires locating. Therefore it is likely to be a number of days before the east bound side of the carriageway can be opened.
Diversions for the east bound closure will be signed via Wardley Industrial Estate however local access for residents will be made available up to the point in which the east bound closure is located.
