Works on Monton Green from 2 January to 21 February 2025

Roadworks on Monton Green, between Monton Green Roundabout and Egerton Road, are due to start on Thursday 2 January 2025 for eight weeks. The works include gas mains upgrades and the installation of a new pedestrian crossing near Park Road.

There will be traffic restrictions in place throughout the duration of the works, including weekends, but we will try to keep it to a minimum wherever possible. Please expect delays and plan your journey accordingly.

What are the planned traffic restrictions?

Please note due to emergency repairs required on Worsley Road near the Delph, the gas mains works on Monton Green will be paused until Wednesday 22 January to minimise delays. The works on Monton Green will resume on Thursday 23 January and finish as originally planned on Sunday 26 January. Works for the new pedestrian crossing on Monton Green will still take place from Monday 27 February until Friday 21 February.

  • Multiway temporary traffic lights and lane closures in place on Monton Green 24/7, they will be phased accordingly throughout the works. The lights will give priority to Monton Green traffic and only turn green for side roads when vehicles are detected. They will also be supervised during peak times to ensure optimum traffic flow.
  • Footway closures along this stretch of Monton Green, they will be phased accordingly throughout the works.
  • Working hours will be Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 5.30pm. Traffic restrictions will be kept to a minimum outside of the working hours and at weekends but this may not always be possible.
  • Side road closures on Park Drive, Grange Drive, Broad Oak Park, Egerton Road and Park Road
  • Two bus stops near Park Drive in both directions will be suspended throughout the works.
  • Access will be maintained at all times but there may be hold-ups while the area is made safe to pass.
