Salford's Santa Appeal has now closed – huge thanks to everyone who donated. Find out how the appeal went.
Salford’s Santa Appeal to collect brand new Christmas toys or gifts for children and young people who might otherwise miss out is coming back.
This year we’re asking the public to put items out for collection by Salford City Council bin crews between Tuesday 3 December and Friday 6 December.
Our fantastic partners Rotary in Worsley have volunteered to help sort and distribute all the gifts we receive by Monday 16 December and Salford Unison is once again sponsoring the red hi vis vests and Santa hats for the bin crews as they collect.
Last year we had an amazing response with over 5,000 items for children and young people and we’re hoping we can top that this year.
All the items we receive will be used to support Salford-based charities, groups and organisations working with children up to the age of 18 and Salford City Council’s Next Step service for young care leavers aged 16 to 25.
For the safety and dignity of the children and young people we aim to help, please only donate brand new items and please leave all gifts unwrapped. Gifts don’t have to be expensive – even the smallest item lets our children and young people know Salford cares about them.
Gifts can also be dropped off at Salford City UNISON’s branch office, 443-445 Chorley Road, Swinton, M27 9LQ or Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton between 9am to 5pm, Monday 2 December to Friday 7 December.
