The council has prepared planning guidance to provide the framework for the transformation of the Ordsall Riverside area of Central Salford into a vibrant mixed use area comprising residential, commercial and leisure uses.
Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, in partnership with Salford City Council, commissioned a masterplan for the area. The masterplan was used as the basis to inform the preparation of the planning guidance for the area. The masterplan is available to download below for reference purposes, but it should be noted that it is not considered to be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.
The planning guidance establishes the context for pre-application discussions with landowners and developers, serves as a material consideration in the determination of planning applications within the area, and facilitates the delivery of the masterplan through directing section 106 contributions to fund and implement the proposed public realm and infrastructure works.
The planning guidance was adopted by Salford City Council on 15 July 2008.
