Review of Salford greenspace strategy

The city council has produced a revised draft of Salford greenspace strategy supplementary planning document (SPD) to replace the adopted version.

Consultation on a revised draft SPD took place between June and August 2017. This presents an opportunity to update the SPD whilst responding to a number of challenges associated with some of the current approaches.

How to see the documents

The draft SPD now consists of two related documents:

  • Draft Salford Greenspace Strategy SPD – provides updated policy and guidance to supplement existing policies in the Salford Unitary Development Plan and introduces three new local recreation standards that were proposed by the Draft Local Plan in 2016
  • Open Space Chapter of the Infrastructure Delivery Plan – a separate document that identifies sites which contribute towards the local recreation standards and site specific proposals for refurbishments and new facilities (subject to funding being secured)

These documents and background documents can be downloaded below.

Interactive map of sites

An interactive map is available to navigate around the city to view the existing and proposed sites against a base map or recent aerial imagery. This map should be used alongside the draft greenspace strategy and the site information in the Open Space chapter.

Next steps

The city council will carefully consider all comments submitted during the consultation period before adopting a new version, which will probably be in 2018.
