Ordsall

In 2006, Salford City Council and Legendary Property Company Living (LPC) signed up to the Ordsall development Framework (produced in 2004), securing a partnership commitment to regenerating an area totalling almost 73 hectares.

Since then, regeneration activity has progressed at an astounding rate and the population of Ordsall ward as a whole has increased by 111 % over the period 2001 to 2011 (2011 National Census Data, provided by Office of National Statistics) Ordsall is now the fastest growing neighbourhood across the city.

Progress to date

More than 500 homes have been created along with a children’s centre and the new Primrose Hill primary school.

The initial phase of a £50 million mixed use scheme at Radclyffe Park was completed in 2012 providing a new local centre for the area. The development to date includes:

  • a new 4,500m2 retail space
  • a 156 Travel Lodge hotel
  • 14 retail units
  • a mix of 29 town houses and apartments
  • Ordsall Health building including a GP practice, chemist, NHS and private dentist along with community services

On going development is currently progressing around the Hulton Square area of Ordsall with a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bed roomed properties due for completion in autumn 2016.

The recreation offer has also been revitalised through the award-winning refurbishment of Ordsall Hall and the rejuvenation of Monmouth Park along with the creation of a community led allotment site in the heart of Ordsall.

Planned future investment

This positive momentum of change will be maintained through the delivery of a further 400 new homes in the area. These are across a number of areas with the redevelopment of the former Ordsall District centre, St Clements and West Park Street sites. In addition ongoing environmental improvements are planned within Ordsall Park along with a new public square at the Hulton Square housing development.

Along with the implementation of traffic calming measures throughout the Ordsall Estate, improved cycle access is also planned connecting Ordsall from the Irwell Riverside through to the Quays area.
