School uniform grant

Children’s Services have successfully secured a grant of £2000 from The Booth Charities to fund new school uniforms for children “living in extreme poverty.”

Schools who wish to refer children for this support will need to download and complete a referral form and demonstrate that the child is in extreme poverty. The form should be emailed to emtas@salford.gov.uk.

Children can be referred who fit the following criteria:

Essential criteria

  • The school is not accessing pupil premium funds for the child.
  • The family is currently on a very low income.

Other factors which will be considered

  • The parents/guardians are not authorised to work.
  • The family have had to move to a new area of the City and thus a new school through no choice of their own.
  • The family are currently without funds due to changes in benefits and they are waiting  for these changes to be implemented.
  • No suitable/high quality second hand uniform can be sourced.

Referrals will be processed by the EMTAS team but please note this grant is available for all children who fit the criteria, not just ethnic minority children.

Grants will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis until funds run out.

Referrals will be accepted from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.

If there are unique circumstances which do not fulfil the criteria please email emtas@salford.gov.uk.
