Electoral review of ward boundaries

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is currently undertaking a review of Salford’s ward boundaries. The review has arisen as a result of significant population changes in the city which has resulted in significant variances in the number of people represented by each ward councillor.

The LGBCE have undertaken an extensive consultation process between 26 June and 3 September 2018 to obtain the views of all interested persons/organisations as to where the ward boundaries should be.

As part of this independent consultation process, after considering the matter at Full Council on 29 August 2018, the council approved a submission setting out its ward boundary proposals. A copy of the council’s submission can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.

The LGBCE have now published their draft recommendations as to Salford's ward boundaries which are subject to open public consultation between 6 November 2018 and 14 January 2019.

Find out more about the LGBCE’s review and view the LGBCE's draft recommendations.

Final recommendations will then be published by the LGBCE on 12 March 2019.
