Salford City Council is carrying out its five year compulsory review of polling districts and polling stations and is inviting the public to have their say.
It’s part of planning for future elections, particularly in May 2020 when all 60 council seats in Salford will be up for re-election, along with the position of City Mayor of Salford. Elections for the Mayor of Greater Manchester will also be held on the same day.
Any venue could be suitable such as football clubs, churches, schools and even an estate agents and watersports centre - just some of the places where Salford people could be voting at next year’s elections.
Returning officer Jim Taylor said: “We check all polling stations regularly to make sure they are in the right places for voters and are accessible for people in wheelchairs or those with limited mobility.
“We’ve listed all the places in each ward and would welcome comments, particularly from people with experience or expertise in access for disabled people. If people aren’t comfortable with a particular polling station then it would be helpful if they can suggest an alternative we can look into.”
