Salford City Council is pleased to announce the successful completion of the improvement works at the Mosley Common Road and A580 East Lancashire Road junction, which was a direct response to the demands of the local community.
The project was designed to enhance safety for people walking, wheeling, and cycling. Toucan crossings on the north, south, and west arms of the junction and a controlled staggered pedestrian crossing on the east arm of the intersection benefit residents, schools, and businesses in the area.
This junction improvement project has delivered a smooth new surface on paths, tactile paving, high-friction road surfacing and improved road markings. Modern crossing facilities have been introduced at this junction, previously difficult to navigate for pedestrians and cyclists, as part of the improvements package. These upgrades will make journeys on foot and by bike safer and encourage the use of active travel modes, thus reducing road congestion.
A variety of new flower bulbs and seeds, as well as two trees, have been planted around the junction in an effort to make the area greener and more vibrant.
Salford City Council would like to extend our gratitude for the community's cooperation and support throughout the project.
Councillor Mike McCusker, Lead Member for Planning, Transport and Sustainable Development, said: "The completion of the improvement scheme at Mosley Common Road and A580 East Lancashire Road junction marks a significant milestone for the local community. We are delighted to deliver enhanced safety measures for pedestrians, cyclists, and families, including new crossing facilities and improved road infrastructure. These enhancements will promote active travel and contribute to a safer and more accessible environment for all residents, schools, and businesses in the area."
