Blackfriars and Trinity ward by-election called

A by-election has been called to find a new councillor for the Blackfriars and Trinity ward in Salford.

This follows the untimely passing of Councillor Ray Walker in August 2021. The election will be held on Thursday 4 November 2021. Polling stations in the ward will be open from 7am to 10pm.

Nominations for candidates must be submitted by 4pm on Friday 8 October 2021. Tom Stannard, Returning Officer for Salford City Council, said: “Ray Walker was a committed councillor who sadly passed away so a by-election has been called to find a new councillor to fill his seat.

“Council officers will be making arrangements for the election in the coming weeks and sending out polling cards to all those registered to vote in the Blackfriars and Trinity ward.

"If you live in the ward and are not registered to vote you have until Tuesday 19 October 2021 to do so, and until Wednesday 20 October to apply for a postal vote. This is your chance to have your say on who represents your views – so make your mark at the election.

"Residents can register to vote and sign up for for postal voting.”
