Salford City Council is reminding residents they have until Monday 22 May to register to vote in the General election and Claremont by-election.

But people only need to take action if they weren't on the electoral roll for the Greater Manchester Mayoral election – or their details have changed since then.

To register to vote, or change details, visit the GOV.UK website.

The General Election will take place on Thursday 8 June 2017. On the same day five candidates will stand in the in the Claremont by-election, which is being held because Councillor Sareda Dirir recently resigned.

Jim Taylor, Returning Officer for Salford City Council, said: “The deadline to register to vote is fast approaching. You only have until Monday 22 May to register to vote in person, and Tuesday 23 May to apply for a postal vote.

“Make sure you are registered to make your mark at the polls this June.”
