Inspecting your building work

An important part of the building regulations process is the inspection of building work.

This is done to see how you or your contractor is achieving compliance with the building regulations. Inspection regimes will vary depending on the type work being done and it is advisable to discuss this with us before and during the building work.

Please ensure you contact us to arrange an inspection on 0161 779 6175. Email building.control@salford.gov.uk at the following stages (or as otherwise agreed with your Building Control Surveyor).

  • Commencement*
  • Foundation excavation
  • Over-site / DPC
  • Drainage
  • Roof / pre-plaster
  • Completion* and issue of Completion Certificate

*Notification at Commencement and Completion stage is required in all instances

The Completion Certificate is necessary to provide evidence of building regulations approval and will be required should the property be sold.

Please ensure you or your builder arranges a Completion Inspection before the scheme is finished. Building regulation applications may be archived if a completion inspection has not been requested and future building control involvement after this time may incur additional charges.

Note: 24 hours notice is required for all inspection requests.
