Hours: 25 hours per week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am to 5.30pm, alternative Saturdays 9am to 1pm

Salary: £16,664 to £17,497

Location: Height Library

Salford Libraries has an exciting opportunity for a flexible, energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver and help develop our services.You will be working with a diverse range of customers of all ages, including children and young people, and you must be able to relate to people of all backgrounds and culture.

Your main role will be to make all customers feel welcome and make the most of their visit.

The role - What you’ll be doing:

  • Helping customers with information enquiries and with choosing books
  • Helping customers to use public access PCs for various reasons, from applying for jobs and benefits, accessing government information, scanning documents, setting up e-mail accounts and using social media
  • Helping to promote and run events and activities, including those for children and young people
  • Helping to ensure that safety and all other operational procedures are followed
  • Helping to create and maintain an attractive and welcoming environment for all customers

What we’re looking for:

  • Ability and enthusiasm to respond to a wide range of customers, with a sympathetic and helpful manner, both in person and on the telephone
  • An awareness of how to respond to children and ability and enthusiasm to do so appropriately
  • Basic literacy and numeracy, the ability to handle money and perform clerical duties effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and directly with customers, for at least 50% of the working day
  • A positive attitude towards teamwork
  • The ability to follow instructions, adhere to rotas, timetables and undertake routine tasks
