Can I foster?

Our foster carers come from diverse backgrounds and we welcome people from all sections of the community regardless of sexuality, gender, marital status, employment status, nationality, ethnicity, religious beliefs, education and social class. The most important thing is  providing a safe and loving home for a child or young person.

You can foster if you:

  • Are aged 21 or older
  • Either own your own home or be in a secure rental agreement with a spare room
  • Are fit and able to care for children and young people and willing to have a health check from your GP
  • Are willing to have a police check for serious offences and disclose any criminal records
  • Have time and energy to look after children
  • Are able to work with professionals involved with a child
  • Are mature, caring and committed to making a difference to children in need

We regularly host information events where you can come along and speak with some of our experienced foster carers to find out more about the reality of being a foster carer.
