Creating a new Pendleton

Pendleton is changing. Large scale regeneration has started to create a fully thriving community and a neighbourhood of choice where people have a real pride in where they live.

Our ambitious proposals will mean:

  • 1,250 homes modernised
  • blocks will have a new look
  • 1,600 new homes built
  • a re-invigorated park, new usable green spaces and sports pitches
  • green energy, growing your own, 40% of waste recycled
  • 7 kilometres of new paths and cycle routes,
  • 500 jobs
  • 2,000 work experience opportunities
  • a co-operative
  • a new theatre square

Latest information

The £650 million scheme to transform Pendleton in Salford was fully launched in September 2013. Background

In the early noughties, we started to look at Pendleton in a different way. We began to think how we could revive it. So bound together by loose associations, we looked at existing buildings and spaces. We started to begin to design a plan to stitch the place back together. We weren't sure where that would take us but we had a wholehearted belief in the place, in the people, in how it could be. It is An Ideal for Living. Why not take a look?

Your community

Residents were involved in developing plans for the area. Kevin Farrell, an Independent Community Advisor from TPAS (Tenant Participation Advisory Service) has been supporting residents through this.  Kevin said: "We are not aware of any other housing scheme that has involved residents in procurement to the extent that the residents of Pendleton have been involved."
