  • The date and time you would like to book
  • How many people, including carers, will be attending
  • If you require the use of any our transfer aids, eg hoist, sling, handing belt (please note you will be required to bring own sling/belt)
  • How did you hear about the multi-sensory room

We will respond to you within a maximum of two working days to let you know if we have any availability or to offer alternative dates/times if applicable. We may need to ask you additional questions too.

Our multi-sensory room features include:

  • Interactive floor projector with pre-loaded activities, games and sensory scenes, including educational games such as shapes and colours, activities to encourage movements, pictures, music and more
  • Sound to sight showtime wall panel, which uses voice/sound technology to create patterns of light and shapes on the wall panel from the sounds you make. This can be used with a microphone too
  • Multifinity explorer, similar to the sound to sight showtime panel, this also uses touch screens and/or microphones used to display lights and shapes from sounds that are made
  • Rainbow bumpas, our vibrating wall bumper pads, fun to touch and great for providing gentle stimulation to sensory seekers
  • Disc projector, which has a range of coloured discs to project patterns, shapes and scenes on the walls, ceilings or floor providing a tranquil, relaxed environment
  • LED bar – this is best used in a darkened environment with UV-responsive items, or items that are white. Simply tilt the bar to highlight white or light objects that will appear under the UV lights
  • Laser sky projector – use the pointer to send laser lights into the sky, or wherever you like around the room
  • Bubble tube provides endless fun, simply turn on and enjoy the changing colours and bubbles. Best used in a darkened environment
  • Fibre optics strings, which can be held, draped or moved for you to play with and enjoy
  • Eight colour wirefree controller to control and change the light and ambience in the room. Choose your preferred shade or change it more frequently as you wish

Is the MSR fully accessible?

Waterside Specialist Support, and the MSR, are fully accessible. We have a range of mobility and transfer aids available for use including full track hoists, slings and other equipment. We also have fully accessible changing /toilet facilities available for you to use.

How much does it cost and how can I pay?

The MSR is available for £42 per session (inc VAT) for up to four people plus carers. If you would like to bring more people, there is an additional cost of £10 per person (inc VAT) – up to a maximum capacity of nine people including carers. Maximum capacity may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Please email: waterside@salford.gov.uk to provisionally book your session. You will need to visit Waterside to pay in cash or by card to secure your booking.

Can I book the MSR for private use?

Yes, the room can be booked for private use. All sessions are priced at £42, for up to 4 people. It is your choice whether you would like to use the room for sole use, or whether you would like to bring someone else along with you.

We do not book separate parties together in one session so when you make a booking it is for your exclusive use and completely up to you how many people you bring along. Additional people can be booked at a cost of £10 per person, up to a maximum capacity of nine people.

Is the room cleaned between guests?

Bookings are made by the hour, which gives you 45 minutes to enjoy the MSR and a further 15 minutes for us to clean the room ready for the next guests.

All of our surfaces are wipe clean and will be thoroughly cleaned using anti-bacterial and sanitising sprays in between use.
