The prevention of crime and disorder

Both front and rear entrances will be fitted with security-rated roller shutters and automatic doors. These entrances will also feature security-rated door sets designed to resist forced entry and unauthorised access.

Access to staff-only areas will be strictly controlled through access-controlled doors, reducing the risk of offenders entering restricted areas under the guise of customers. The internal layout supports visibility and ease of staff monitoring throughout the venue.

The venue will include secure storage facilities for staff belongings, and its open-plan internal layout allows staff to maintain clear sightlines across public areas. This arrangement reduces the opportunity for theft and supports active monitoring.

The main entrance is prominently located on Irwell Street, providing high visibility from the public realm. Its location allows staff and on-site security to easily observe all individuals entering and exiting the premises. The entrance will be monitored by CCTV and supported by flood lighting to deter unauthorised access and anti-social behaviour.

The internal layout is open-plan, allowing unobstructed lines of sight from service areas (e.g. bar) across customer zones. The client has confirmed that CCTV will cover the bar and entrance areas, and additional coverage or mirrors can be added to monitor any blind spots if required.

The rear entrance is intended for servicing and secondary access. Although this access point will be secured with a roller shutter, security-rated door, CCTV, and alarmed locking, it still requires active supervision to ensure it is not misused or accessed by unauthorised persons. All staff will be trained in monitoring rear access, and only designated personnel will operate it.

Public safety

Doors, Windows, and Shutters

The property will be fitted with security-rated doors at both the front and rear entrances. These door sets are designed to withstand forced entry and meet recognised security standards. Roller shutters will be installed over all external doors and any glazed openings to provide an added layer of protection when the venue is closed. These measures significantly reduce the risk of burglary, vandalism, or unauthorised access.

Lighting

Flood lighting will be installed at the main entrance on Irwell Street to enhance visibility and act as a deterrent to criminal activity. Lighting at access points ensures the area remains well-lit during evening and night-time operations, supporting both customer safety and surveillance.

CCTV

A comprehensive CCTV system will be deployed, with cameras covering the front door, entrance area, and bar. This setup enables staff and security personnel to monitor key locations in real-time and provides high-quality footage to support incident response or investigations. Further internal coverage may be added as needed to eliminate any blind spots and maintain full visibility throughout customer areas.

The prevention of public nuisance

The unit does not contain vulnerable ground-floor windows due to its location beneath a railway viaduct. Where any glazing is present, roller shutters will be installed to provide physical protection and act as a deterrent against vandalism and forced entry.

The site is self-contained and not connected to any residential staircases or upper floor uses. Therefore, no direct conflict with residential units is expected. However, external noise management and crowd dispersal measures will be implemented as part of the venue's operating procedures to ensure minimal disruption to nearby residential properties, where applicable.

The protection of children from harm
