Please describe briefly the nature of the proposed variation

The premises is to have the benefit of a significant refurbishment and rebrand to Marston's format known as

Grandstand. As the name indicates this brand is orientated around the provision of sport both shown at the premises and engagement with local amateur teams so as to reinforce community connections and support for sport in the community.

The premises will have the benefit of a new expanded menu, kitchen upgrade, designated dining space along with children's menu.

Application is therefore made to amend the Premises Licence as follows:

1. Layout.

To amend the layout of the premises as per drawing which is attached and as follows:

  • 731/200E Site Plan

  • 731/L0l Licensing Plan

Internal

  • To the right of the premises removal of fixed seating booths and partitions to create more open plan space with the benefit of bench seating

  • To the left of the premises removal of two seating booths and further partitions to create open plan format

  • To the centre of the games room creation of partition wall so as to provide location for mounting of TV screen and darts area

  • Relocation of AWP machines

  • Appropriate redecoration throughout.

Externally

It is believed that the patio area to the right of the front of the premises is already within the licensed area, if not this area is sought to be licensed.

  • To include terrace patio to the front and left of the premises which has been in place for a considerable period of time and now has the benefit of temporary coverings.

  • New furniture and lighting to external area.

2. Licensable Activities

  • Retail Sale of Alcohol - To enhance the licensable activity of retail sale of alcohol internally and externally between the hours of 10:00 and 01:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Regulated entertainment - To permit regulated entertainment in the form of recorded and live music externally between the hours of 10:00 until 23:00 hours on Monday - Thursday, 10:00 until 01:00 hours on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 until 23:00 on Sunday.

  • Non Standard Timings - to amend the non standard timing in respect of Bank Holiday weekends so as to permit the premises to undertake licensable activities until 01:00 hours on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Bank Holiday weekends.

  • Films - To add in the licensable activity of films both internally and externally between the hours of 10:00 until 23:00 hours on Monday -Thursday, 10:00 until 01:00 hours on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 until 23:00 on Sunday.

  • Indoor Sporting Event - To add in the licensable activity of indoor sporting events internally between the hours of 10:00 until 23:00 hours on Monday - Thursday, 10:00 until 01 :00 hours on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 until 23:00 on Sunday. 

3. Opening Hours

  • The opening hours are sought to be amended so as to permit 30 minutes for a cessation of licensable activities on Friday and Saturday being 10:00 until 01 :30 hours

4. Conditions

The application has allowed a review of the conditions endorsed upon the Licence to be undertaken.

Condition under Prevention of Public Nuisance to be amended to:

The access door to the external all weather area shall be fitted with a self  closing device. The door shall not be used except for access and egress purposes and shall not be maintained open for any reason.

Hours of use restricted to between 11:00 to 23:30 Sunday, 10:00 to 23:30 Monday to Thursday and 10:00 to 01 :30 Friday and Saturday

Condition under Protection of Children from Harm to be amended to:

"Children under the age of 16 shall not be permitted to enter the premises after 22:00 hours unless attending a pre-booked function or dining with an adult."

Conditions to be deleted.

  1. The access door to the all weather area shall be fitted with a self closing device. The door shall not be used except for access and egress purposes and shall not be maintained for any reason. No amplified music or music equipment shall be permitted in the external area. - duplicated condition already within Annex 2.

  2. Hours of use restricted to between 11:00 to 23:30 Sunday, 10:00 to 23:30 Monday to Thursday and 10:00 to 00:30 Friday and Saturday - duplicated condition already within Annex 2

The works are to create the Grandstand format in respect of the overall operation of the premises. It is anticipated that the capital investment will improve the amenity and thereby promote the four licensing objectives.
