Important information

Before applying you should have taken steps to reduce, re-use, recycle and compost your waste using the services and facilities provided by the council and other organisations.

By doing the above you should release more storage capacity in the standard sized wheeled bin provided. However, if you consider that you have a need for additional capacity and meet the criteria below, please complete the application form.

Application criteria

  • There are more than six people living in your home
  • You can show that you are recycling all your recyclable waste

What happens after you've completed the form

We’ll arrange a visit from a waste awareness officer to your home to assess your eligibility. There is a charge of £52.50 for a large black bin. This charge will not be required until we have assessed your eligibility.

Medical conditions

If you don’t meet the criteria for a larger black bin because of the number of people living in your home, but you have a medical condition that increases the amount of waste you produce, we can arrange a visit from a waste awareness officer to see how we can support you.
